LW302UPD.EXE 1) Download the file LW300upd.exe as a binary file. LW300upd.exe is a self-expanding compressed version of the LogicWorks upgrade. Remember to set your ftp program for binary download. 2) After you download LW300upd.exe, place it in a new directory. The program should be run from a DOS window. Open the MS-DOS prompt in Windows 3.1 or Win95, and change to the new directory you just created. You can do this by typing "cd\[your new directory path]"x at the DOS prompt. Then type "LW300upd.exe" and hit "return". This will expand the data inside of LW300upd.exe to add two additional files to the directory. These two files are the uncompressed updater program LW3xx302.exe and an uncompressed support file Patchw.dll. Note: If you don't see the extensions, .exe and .dll, listed above and you are running Windows 95, don't worry. Windows 95 may selectively hide file extensions. Just continue. Note: Windows 95 users may find that the DOS box doesn't close when the expanded is finished. As long as the Windows title now says "finished" you may close the window by typing "exit" in the DOS window. 3) Install a fresh copy of your old LogicWorks version 3.0.0, 3.0.0a, or 3.0.1. If you want to save any libraries you've modified or any circuits you've created, move them to a separate directory until the new install is complete. 4) Note the path of the program on your hard drive where LogicWorks is installed. You will need to navigate to that directory in step (7). 5) To run the program LW3xx302.exe in Windows 3.1, choose the "Run..." command in the "File" menu or choose "Run" from the "Start" button in Win95. Specify the path to the program in the text box, choose "OK", and the install program starts. 6) An initial dialog will be displayed indicating that this updater only updates the program and does not update any program manager links or items in the Start menu for Windows 95 users. Click "OK". 7) Use the "File Open" dialog to locate the program file for your version of LogicWorks. Navigate to the directory you determined in step (4) and select either the file LW300.exe or LW301.exe. Note: Windows 95 uses may not see the .exe extension. 8) The patcher should then make all the needed changes to convert your LogicWorks 3.0.0, 3.0.0a, or 3.0.1 to LogicWorks 3.0.2. 9) The patcher has not modified any directory names, shortcuts or start menu items. You will have to modify them or create new ones. It is recommended that the LogicWorks directory be renamed to "LW302" and that the new start menu links be modified to point at the file LW302.exe. You can delete the contents of the directory containing the upgrade files if you wish.
