Tutorial and Quiz Information

Fall 1996
- in groups of about 12-14 students led by a single TA for the whole term
- four tutorials of 1.5 hours each
- problems and exercises will be handed out each week in lecture
- purpose of tutorials is to take up the problem sets, which themselves are not graded
- as part of the tutorial ``team", you may be called upon during the tutorial to
help other members of your team that have not understood some concept.
- You will be graded for your participation in the tutorial, out of 3:
- one quiz during the term, probably in the last tutorial
- you will be asked to demonstrate something
and answer oral questions about LogicWorks, ABEL and PALs, and building a
small circuit
- worth 5% of your final grade
- purpose is to test your practical knowledge and abilities to
use the software tools and the hardware
- if you do the regular exercises and labs, you should have no trouble
- examples
- You are given a logic circuit.
Create a schematic for the circuit using the LogicWorks software and
simulate it.
- You are given a logic design.
Create a fuse map file and program a PAL.
- You are given a logic circuit that you must wire up
and make work.
- for a quiz related to the software, you will be permitted to use
a manual, which will be provided.
