About Us

The X-lab directed by Prof. Xilin Liu is formed by a diverse group of thinkers/doers who create technologies to make the world a better place. Our research advances integrated circuits (ICs) and systems with integrated artificial intelligence (AI) for advancing brain health, digital communication, and edge machine learning. We are passionate about pushing the boundaries of technologies and advancing human life qualities, espeically for the world’s most vulnerable and underrepresented communities. Learn more about our projects.

Our lab is in the Edward S. Rogers Sr. Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the University of Toronto and the Center for Advancing Neurotechnological Innovation to Application (CRANIA). We are currently collaborating with extraordinary researchers across different deparments at the University of Toronto, the University Health Network (UHN), industrial partners, and top universities around the world. We are strongly committed to promoting equity, diverstiy, and inclusion (EDI) in our research environment.

*** (New) We have 3-4 openings for PhD students with full scholarship joining in 2024. *** If you are interested in our research or joining us, please do not hesitate to contact Prof. Liu at xilinliu@ece.utoronto.ca. For prospective students and research fellows, please check our openings.
