Communication Skills Resources
Clear and concise communication is a core professional skill for engineers and an important part of graduate education.
Beyond this course and its project, engineers are regularly expected to explain technical ideas, justify design decisions, communicate trade-offs, and present work clearly to a variety of audiences. These skills develop over time through practice and feedback.

Communication & Presentation Support at U of T
The University of Toronto offers several excellent resources focused on communication skills for graduate engineering students. All of the following are optional and independent of this course.
ISTEP
The Institute for Studies in Transdisciplinary Engineering Education & Practice (ISTEP) supports graduate engineering students by offering courses and programs that develop communication, leadership, and other transdisciplinary skills essential for modern engineering practice.

GCAC
The Graduate Centre for Academic Communication (GCAC) provides graduate students with advanced support in academic writing and oral communication.
- Oral Presentation Skills (OPS): A non-credit, six-week course focused on presentation skills
FASE Graduate Writing Community (Quercus)
FASE students are encouraged to join the FASE Graduate Writing Community Quercus hub, which lists up-to-date information on engineering-specific writing and communication support offered by both FASE and GCAC.
